چکیده
This paper investigates the in-plane lateral behaviour and capacity of cold-formed steel (CFS) stud wall panels which are sheathed with Oriented Strand Board (OSB). Detailed nonlinear FE models were developed, accounting for material properties, geometric nonlinearity, realistic fastener imperfections. The validated against available experimental data subsequently employed to conduct comprehensive parametric studies into effects key design variables, including screw spacing, OSB CFS element thicknesses, board layout configuration, intensity gravity loading number boards (single- vs. double-sheathed systems). structural performance studied was compared in terms their load capacity, initial stiffness, failure mechanisms, deformation ductility, energy dissipation. Lateral stiffness dissipation positively influenced by a reduced thicker an absence seams boards. Ductility generally promoted increased thinner vertical seams. High ratios have potential dramatically reduce strength, ductility

Analysis of Sheathed Cold-Formed Steel Wall Studs
The strength of sheathed wall systems is substantially greater than unsheathed walls with the same studs. Testing on studs sheathed on both sides with dry gypsum board demonstrate strength increases as large as 70% over unsheathed studs (Miller and Peköz 1993, Miller and Peköz 1994). The current AISI Specification for sheathed wall stud systems are complicated, only apply when the sheathing is ...
متن کاملBracing Stiffness and Strength in Sheathed Cold-formed Steel Stud Walls
The objective of this paper is to provide the stiffness and strength characteristics for coldformed steel stud walls stabilized by sheathing. The primary stability resistance is provided by translational (lateral) stiffness supplied at the fastener locations to the cold-formed steel studs. This paper separates the source of this translational stiffness into two parts: local and diaphragm. To an...

متن کاملCyclic Behavior of Cold-Formed Steel Stud-to-Sheathing Connections
This series of experiments aims to characterize the cyclic behavior of cold-formed steel (CFS) stud-to-sheathing connections. This connection provides the key energy dissipating behavior in wood sheathed CFS shear walls, and provides bracing to the studs under gravity and out-of-plane loads. A simple testing rig is developed consisting of two CFS lipped channels facing toe-to-toe connected on t...
متن کاملCyclic Loading Tests for Cold-Formed Steel Wall Frames with Lightweight Concrete
Lightweight steel framing is a method in housing and construction that have been widely used in lightweight steel construction. In this method, the structure is built by cold formed steel elements. They are cost-effective, light, and easy to assemble. However, the performance of lateral load resisting systems in cold-formed steel structures specially the behavior of cold-formed steel shear wall...
